Project | 01 - The Cultivate Programme

From November 2015 until December 2017 I worked as Project Coordinator for the Cultivate Program, in partnership with Flow Associates, for client Enable Leisure and Culture, Wandsworth Council. Cultivate is an ongoing initiative created to help young people in the Nine Elms (Battersea) and Vauxhall neighbourhoods of  South West London to access cultural and place-making related learning opportunities linked to the regeneration of the area. Cultivate was set up as one of seven Cultural Education Challenge projects for young people around the city that received investment from A New Direction. More info at www.cultivate.london

Project | 02 - The Knitted Piano

In 2015 I was one of a number of different artists appointed to decorate a street piano at Canary Wharf as part of the International 'Play Me, I'm Yours' project. I was asked to work with local knitting groups in the area over several months to create a patchwork cover of knitted 3D objects relating to the different businesses, services and goods that can be found at the site's shopping centre. After the project was over, the decorated piano was donated to a local community centre.

Project | 03 - Community Gardens

Since carrying out her Masters research into urban agriculture in 2008, Ana has been actively involved and volunteering with local projects. While living in London she worked with a gardening group for adults with special needs at the Bromley-by-Bow Centre. After moving back to West Cork she joined the Skibbereen Community Orchard group and got involved with everything from hands-on gardening activities to managing their social media presence and helping organise events and workshops. The group's activities are currently on hold since early 2020 but their aim is to create a sustainable public growing space where the local community can come together and share knowledge and expertise, learn together and grow food together.
